Biography

Kristian Fletcher worked as a scaffolder in London for 15 years before gaining a First Class BA (Hons) in Drawing and Applied Arts at the University of the West of England. He then studied at The Prince’s Drawing School (now the Royal Drawing School), completing The Drawing Year in 2013. Fletcher won the Jerwood Drawing Prize Student Award in both 2011 and 2013, and exhibited in the 'Betweenlands' exhibition hosted by Blain Southern in 2014. He is currently on the Royal Drawing School's International Teaching and Art Residency in India. Fletcher's work seeks to combine realism with a sense of place and atmosphere, and is concerned with the diverse nature of structures in our landscape and public spaces. These structural configurations are often in a state of flux, and his drawings are an attempt to capture their changing forms.
