On drawing

My drawings are a way to meet many needs: to hold on to something I might lose, to comprehend an unfamiliar motif, to clarify a dialogue within my painting. More often than not, the act of drawing is inspirational, usually full of urgency. They often suggest paintings that might never happen (but one lives in hope).
