Biography

Ayla Lepine arrived in the UK from Canada in 2003 and studied theology as a postgraduate at Oxford University before returning to art history, obtaining a Courtauld MA ('The Aesthetic Turn' with Caroline Arscott) in 2005 and is now a Visiting Lecturer at the Courtauld Institute of Art and Gallery as well as the V&A, and Love Art London. Her academic work has consistently engaged with gender theory, spirituality, rituals, and perceptions of historicism. She is increasingly concerned with interdisciplinary approaches to visual culture, especially with regard to the importance of music, faith and feminism for art historical practice. She is also a curator and writer of many published documents.
