Alumni news and events

Oct. 16, 2014
Our Drawing Year alumni have been busy recently. Here are some of the things they have been getting involved in, from Stella McCartney's Green Carpet Challenge in London to teaching in India.

The Royal Drawing School's International Teaching and Art Residency, India

An Arts for India exhibition was held at the School’s Oxford Street studios in June 2014 displaying works made in India by Drawing Year alumni who had participated in the Royal Drawing School's International Teaching and Art Residency. The event was part of Arts for India’s initiative in establishing London’s first ‘Indian Art Week’, in collaboration with Sotheby’s and Christie’s, with sponsorship from JP Morgan. Arts for India is the UK-based charity which raises funds to support (amongst other things) the School’s educational partnership with IIFA.

There are currently four alumni participating in the 2014 residency: Kristian FletcherRebecca HarperKathryn Maple and Leon Pozniakow. They will be teaching and working at IIFA in Modinagar, Delhi, from October to December. For the third year running, veteran IIFA tutor Emma Seach will accompany them for the first month as co-ordinator.

Stella McCartney Event

Five of our alumni were resident artists at a high-profile fashion event this September at the Royal Academy of Science, organised by Livia Firth with support of Anna Wintour, to showcase a new collection by Stella MacCartney as part of Eco Age’s Green Carpet Challenge.
