New studios for The Foundation Year
This year, with necessary Covid-safe measures in place and social distancing throughout the studios, it was more important than ever that Foundation Year students had the space they needed to work. Thanks to Urban Space Management, our students got just that with new container studios added to the roof of the existing studio building.
On a sunny day in September, the new containers were lifted atop the current Foundation Year building.
'Our students have all adapted amazingly to online learning this year but this new space has been an absolutely vital addition; we've been able to make sure they've continued to receive in-person teaching as well as studio time for their own projects every week. This face-to-face contact is so important on a foundation course, particularly when students are creating a portfolio of work for university applications and interviews. This new space has made sure we can deliver the same high standard of teaching, but importantly, at a social distance.' Daniel McAuliffe, Director of Foundation
The view from the new studios lead down across Trinity Buoy Wharf with Container City to the right, English National Opera in the middle and the 02 Arena in the distance.
