Welcome to The Foundation Year 2019-20 End of Year Exhibition. This is the culmination of a year’s hard work for our students and we are delighted that you can be with us to support and congratulate them on their success.

It is amazing to think that we are in our eighth Foundation Year, and we are very proud of our students whose artistic talent is evident in this fantastic exhibition. The last term has been challenging due to the lockdown, but we have continued to support our students through their Final Major Project and assessment. The students have been courageous in their creative endeavours and the work they have produced is testament to their hard work and the skills they have acquired throughout the Foundation Year programme.

They leave with our very best wishes as they continue with their education, and towards exciting careers in the creative industries.

This full-time programme of highly personalised skills-based teaching in Fine Art practice seeks to meet a need for high-quality education in the visual arts which is now more urgent than ever. It remains our strongly held belief that drawing is a crucial route to innovation across the creative disciplines from fine art and fashion, to filmmaking, product and graphic design, architecture and animation.

As an educational charity, and with no public funding, we rely on the generosity of a wide range of supporters to be able to continue to offer free and subsidised places across all of the School’s programmes.

In this regard, we would like to say a particular thank you to our supporters of the Foundation Year and Trinity Buoy Wharf: Camalotte Foundation; Clore Duffield Foundation; The Foyle Foundation; The Handa Foundation; Lund Trust; Machin Arts Foundation; The Roden Family Foundation; Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust; and Garfield Weston Foundation.

If you would like to support our Foundation Year students of the future, we would be delighted to hear from you. Donations of all sizes make a real difference to the work we do. For further information, please contact our Head of Development Claire Alfrey at claire.alfrey@royaldrawingschool.org.
