Christmas Holiday Course for Young Artists Aged 11–15

Figure and Puppetry

Throughout history puppets have been used to animate and communicate the ideas and imaginations of different cultures. How does a figure’s silhouette express their character? How can costume extend and contort a creature? In this one day course students will look at the clothed figure, working from a live costumed model, creating drawings from life and from film. A mixture of short and longer sustained studies will lead to the creation of a puppet that students can decorate their home with over the winter holiday.

Students will be taught by Alumni Tutor Christabel Forbes and an Assistant tutor. There will be a maximum class size of 22 and students will be supervised throughout the day.

This course will run from the studios at Royal Drawing School Shoreditch. All materials are provided.
