Easter Holiday // Experimental Drawing Week

Support the evolution of your practise through an experiential week of different materials and processes. What happens when you feed an image through drawing, to print, to paint? How does it grow richer and more meaningful to you?

This course aims to encourage your visual curiosity by pushing and stretching the limits of your work using various approaches. Each day will focus on one particular road into image-making. On day one we will cover the preparation of drawing and painting surfaces, experiencing various combinations, discovering suitable relationships between the support and the media. Day two we will feed your observational and imaginative drawing skills through layered activities guided by the tutors, moving from monochrome to colour. On day three you will work with print room processes adapted to the home environment to unlock the potential of printmaking without the complexities of the traditional print studio. On day four and five we will liquify our drawings as we turn to wet materials, honing our skills using watercolour or any other water-based paints.

The course will culminate in the combination of various approaches, learning to mix drawing materials with print processes and paint in a single image to activate the full potential of your image. By the end of the course, you will have developed a portfolio of exciting investigative drawings, giving you a broad range of routes to explore your creativity with a sense of structure, in your artistic practise. Suitable for all levels.
