Evening Drawing: Immersive Narratives 1

This course is designed to develop your drawing through narrative and storytelling, combining observation with imagination, thus providing a place for the inventions of the mind to take hold and expand the possibilities of image making. Students will draw inspiration from Greek myths to Grimms’ Fairy Tales, cinematic studies, recreations of renaissance history paintings, poetry and plays. Each week students will create their own environment or still life to work from, guided by the tutor, combining this with a poem or narrative to depict a moment in an ongoing story or as a sequence of events unfolding over time, from the sublime to the mysterious.  Students will be encouraged with personal development inclusive of all abilities.

Our new five-week courses give you the flexibility and choice to build your term as you like it, offering the opportunity to try out more courses than you would be able to with our usual programme. However if you prefer the longer format of a ten-week course, you can book the same five-week course twice, knowing that the courses will not follow the same structure in the first and second half of term, and tutors are able to adapt and tailor the course to each student based on whether you are taking it for the first time or are continuing on from the first half of the term.
