Evening Life Drawing and Anatomy
The uniqueness of the human figure as a physiological structure is evident in the vast repertoire of expressive states and their dynamic transitions. The most immediately noticeable quality that reveals the essence of its nature, is the constant three-dimensional interaction of the figure with space. On this course the students will be encouraged to observe and analyse the principles that determine the fluidity of the body and its surprising transformations. Basic knowledge of the skeletal structure strengthens our understanding of how to depict the figure. The skeleton is universal to all of us, it is the elemental support that is most enduring and also most recognisable in our outside shape. If you look at the head, hand, or torso, you will see the distinct character of the bones influencing the surface. A combination of this understanding in addition to seeing afresh, allows for a greater depth and sensitivity when drawing the figure. The importance of tonal variations will also be considered as an indicator of the distinct volumes and how they are interrelated within the overall mass. The classes will include quick exercises and longer poses. All levels welcome, including beginners.
