Mindfulness and Drawing
Drawing and mindfulness both invite us to enter more deeply into the present moment. In this course we will explore mindfulness practices that will help us arrive and engage in fresh ways with the world around us, to develop a deeper appreciation of the visual world and a better understanding of ourselves as artists. We will explore ways to see with more clarity, to draw more creatively and free ourselves from obstacles like artists block.
Mindfulness has been proven to develop creativity, focus and openness. By combining mindfulness and drawing we will open up a space for relaxed attention, allowing us to develop an enjoyable and intimate relationship with the subject. Students will explore diverse examples of mark making and the different emotions each express, avoiding limitations and preconceptions of what our drawings should look like.
In this online course you will be working in your home or studio environment, offering a unique opportunity to bring mindfulness and drawing into the heart of your own life and develop your home practice. Each class will emphasise a different aspect of mindfulness practice, and will include short guided meditations, group discussions and time to draw away from the screen.
Please note, Friday 3 June is a bank holiday. No classes will be held on that date.
