Painting portraits has challenged artists for over 2,000 years, and this enduring fascination continues to thrive, long after the invention of photography. Focusing on the head, this course will offer students the chance to make sustained portrait paintings over two and three day poses. Emphasis will be placed on colour mixing, and understanding how the colours and tones of the model relate to their surroundings. Students will be guided through exercises whilst being given room to develop a personal response to the sitter, and historical and contemporary contextual references will be provided. Students will receive one-to-one tuition as well as participating in group discussions. Suitable for all levels.
All of our course rates are subsidised and we also offer a comprehensive concessions scheme on our term-time courses. View all course fees and concessions.
