The Body Clothed (Online)

The psychological power of dress and style, forms the basis of this weekly course. Speaking to you from my studio and concentrating on aspects of drawing which at times are, we agree, a struggle. Heads dressed with hats, feathers and crowns, which you will wear in your isolation; masks, surgical, or theatrical on another day. Hands dressed plain or gloved; feet in impractical or practical shoes. We think and talk of gowns, masks, and of shields. Clothing is constantly in the news. We need for many reasons to explore and draw and reflect on these times, just as artists have always done. But we also need the theatrical, the imaginative and the entertaining to sustain us and those near to us. More than likely you have emptied out cupboards and stored out clothing, shoes and accessories. We can use these. The broad diversity of human culture and dress will be covered, and connections with art history, fashion, and theatre made. All levels including beginners are welcome.
