An in-depth drawing programme for 15-18 year olds
Our Young Associates programme is open to students in school years 10 to 13 considering careers in a
broad range of subjects for which drawing from observation provides an
important foundation. As well as fine art, these subjects include graphic and
product design, illustration, fashion and textiles, film-making, animation, architecture, photography and
engineering among many others.
Our focus on drawing and skills-based teaching, distinguishes us from other art schools, and we believe that joining the Associates programme will complement students' studies at GCSE and A level, as well as supporting applications to further and higher education including both foundation and undergraduate courses.
Weekly classes of three hours duration are held on Saturdays at The School's own drawing studios in Shoreditch and Trinity Buoy Wharf in London and St. George’s Works in Norwich. Associates benefit from serious and sustained tuition in an artist-led environment, amongst others with a passion for art and drawing. Help with the preparation of portfolios is offered in a termly one-to-one tutorial, and Young Associates who have attended the summer term and at least one other term during the year, are invited to submit work to an annual exhibition of drawings held by the School in September.
The fee for this programme is £225 per ten week term unless stated otherwise, this includes teaching, tutorials and materials costs. There are three terms per year.
Once you have booked you will receive a confirmation email, this will include a link which will ask for additional details of the student who will be attending the course.
The school is committed to making all courses offered affordable and available to those who have a passion and aptitude for drawing. Therefore we offer a number of 50% and 100% means-tested scholarships for each course. We welcome applications from all students who feel that the Young Associates programme would benefit their studies and broaden their opportunities.
If you would like to apply for a scholarship place please complete the Young Artists Scholarship application form. You do not need to book separately through the website and we will contact you if we need any further information.
Our drawing courses take place at our studios in Shoreditch, as well as at The National Gallery, and in different Central London locations on our Explore course. We also run a course at St Georges Works in Norwich and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
