Summer Term 2023

Summer Term 2023
24th April – 1st July 2023

Warmer weather and brighter days means the long-awaited return to drawing outdoors, alongside our Studio, Online and Out of House programmes. The Drawing Intensive course also returns - a chance to immerse yourself in your practice with the support of tutorials, mentoring and crits.

As well as the return of some of our most popular courses, we are also pleased to announce some new courses for Summer Term:

Out of house, Pilgrimage: Secular and Sacred responds through drawing to the urban and natural landscapes of London, and the rich history of these combined whist in the studio, World Imagery in Art: Moments in Time transports students to a specific historical period or significant cultural event, looking at how visual traditions intermingle and dynamically transform each other - from postwar Japanese blues and pre-Columbian ceramic production to 18th century Pacific voyages and precolonial art in West Africa.

Online, evening course Drawing Topographies: Summer in Transition embraces the changes in light as the evenings get longer, drawing from observation in your local surroundings, as well as from memory and imagination. Also celebrating the natural world, Abstract Qualities in Landscapes, Gardens & Natural Forms

takes inspiration from artists including Turner, Diebenkorn, Joan Mitchell and Howard Hodgkin - students will focus on composition, rhythm, surface geometry and colour while making formal responses to the Nature we have access to from home.
