Rembrandt: The Late Works at the National Gallery

Oct. 16, 2014

The Rembrandt exhibition at The National Gallery is one of the most exciting exhibitions to open in London this autumn.

Rembrandt: The Late Works at the National Gallery

Rembrant: The Late Works explores a variety of Rembrandt's works from the 1650's until his death in 1669. The works on display range from well-known masterpieces to rare drawings and prints and examine his expressive and radical late style.

His bold manipulation of printing and painting techniques and progressive interpretations of traditional subjects inspired generations of artists, earning him a reputation as the greatest master of the Dutch Golden Age. The Late Works looks at the themes that preoccupied Rembrandt throughout his final years, all of them focused on an awareness and observation of his surroundings: the self, environment, light, other artists, everyday occurrences.

A one-time opportunity to see the power and intensity of Rembrandt's works, this exhibition contains some of the artist's finest works and represents the achievements that define his entire career.
