Rydal Hanbury

  • Alumni, 2008

Biography

Rydal Hanbury studied in Hertfordshire, winning the University Award in 1999 and 2004. She completed The Drawing Year in 2008 and won first prize in ‘Hung, Drawn and Quartered’, which saw her drawing converted into a 75ft hoarding covering part of the Tower of London, for a three year restoration project. She uses drawing as a means of ‘capturing the present moment in time within a defined area', its narrative, claustrophobic and repetitive aspects, patterns and rhythms. Rydal taught for many years with the Royal Drawing School's Drawing Clubs, and has drawn around Bank, in the Square Mile of the City, since 2008.
