Cathy Lomax

Cathy Lomax paints and draws, and is the director of east end artist-run space Transition Gallery, which also functions as a publishing house. Her visually soft-spoken paintings consider personal and collective desires, fame, and the cultural underground. Starting with a DIY aesthetic, she has also developed and edited two art ‘zines’, Arty and Garageland over the past ten years, as well as various other books and one-off publications. The zines Lomax edits have provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work as well as a place for alternative discourse about the contemporary art world.
