Drawing in Museums & Galleries

Drawing Pods

What are Drawing Pods?
Drawing Pods are bespoke drawing courses or workshops for groups or individuals taught by Royal Drawing School faculty who are all practicing contemporary artists. We organise corporate workshops, bespoke workshops for groups, life drawing in schools, drawing courses in museums and galleries, drawing workshops at events and festivals and private tuition. Workshops can be held at your place of work, in your home, in a hired space or at your event, or in our fully equipped studios.

Proceeds from bespoke drawing courses will go towards funding the Royal Drawing School’s charitable programmes.

Museums and Galleries
Drawing is not what one sees but what one can make others see. Edgar Degas

Drawing in museums and galleries provides visitors with a new way of enjoying and appreciating the exhibitions on display. We work with various artistic institutions to design courses for the public that run alongside their current exhibitions, allowing visitors to engage imaginatively with artworks. Whether you are looking for an activity to capture the attention of school-aged children or you would like to provide a workshop for adults which allows a deeper understanding of your exhibition, we are able to work with you to devise a course that will bring particular aspects of your exhibition to light. We have also been commissioned to design courses and workshops for curatorial teams and other staff members.

How it works
Our courses are tailored to meet the needs of your proposal and we will work with you to create a bespoke course that engages your visitors.  This may be a one-off drawing session or an extended course that runs throughout the duration of your exhibition. Our tutors are all practicing contemporary artists who come from a range of artistic backgrounds and are based throughout the UK. Depending on the size of your gallery space, the courses may take place within the exhibition space itself or in separate room within your building.  We may be able to provide materials and equipment including easels and drawing boards.
