First Thursdays at the Royal Drawing School: Exhibition Tour & Talk

Events every First Thursday of the month in collaboration with Time Out and the Whitechapel Gallery's First Thursdays

This First Thursday we will be offering a tour of The Drawing Year 2023 End of Year Exhibition.

This is a chance to see drawings and works on paper by the outgoing students of our postgraduate-level programme The Drawing Year. Fraser Scarfe, Head of The Drawing Year, will give a guided tour of the exhibition and discuss the work on show, along with students from The Drawing Year 2023. He will also give an informal talk about course itself, what it's like to study on the year and how to apply. With a Q&A session at the end, it will be a relaxed opportunity to find out more about the works on show and The Drawing Year itself.

The tour will begin at 6.30pm and last approximately an hour. Please book a space.

The show is open to the public to view 9am–9pm, and people are welcome to come throughout the day but if you would like to join the tour and talk please arrive for 6.30pm.

The Drawing Year is a full scholarship postgraduate-level course offering up to thirty students the opportunity to focus on drawing from observation for one year. There are no tuition fees for The Drawing Year – all students are awarded a full scholarship and receive a free studio space.

You can find out more about the exhibition here.

If you would like to attend one of our Drawing Year Open Days, you can find out more details here.

Please note: There will be no First Thursday session in January 2024 and our First Thursday free drawing sessions will resume in February 2024.
